I have moved into my own home!
I must say a BIG thank you to Sophie for the lovely keyring she kindly sent me
In honour of my "official" move I thought it would be fun for you to leave me a comment with a piece of "house warming" advice; anything from the utensil you cannot live without, your top cleaning tip or your must have store cupboard item
I look forward to hearing your tips
Congratulations!!! I have no tips - I'm very domestically challenged! Enjoy :-)
ReplyDeleteI don't have any tips for you since I live in a basement and the two things I can't live without are my laptop and my phone, oh and my books. I am planning a move in about a year and a half. I figure that is how long it will take me to save up enough money and pay off my loan so I can afford to live on my own. You have given me hope!
ReplyDeleteScubbing Bubbles is a must for cleaning the tub without breaking your back. Oh, also Mr. Clean Magic Eraser comes in handy for so many things!
ReplyDeleteYey she's in! Whoop, whoop!!
ReplyDeleteBet you feel fabulous :o)
Tip from me, always do the washing up before going to bed. I don't always do this and it is a right PITA (pain in the arse) when you get up in the morning with sleep in your eyes and all you want is a coffee :o)
On a more sensible note, microfibre cloths. Get them at dunelms for a quid. They make windows and mirrors a breeze and all your shiny stuff too!
Best stop now as I'll fill up an A4 sized comment, tee hee. xx
Yippee! Cute key ring and just enjoy your place. In the kitchen clean as you go and just tidy up your living room each evening.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Linda
Congratulations on moving in. If someone comes to my house unexpectedly and I haven't cleaned, I spray furniture polish into the air, whip my apron on and say 'you just caught me in the middle of cleaning, but I would much rather stop for a cup of tea with you'!.
ReplyDeleteMany Congrats on your official moving in!
ReplyDeleteDon't be fooled into thinking you need a separate cleaning product for every job. I clean the bath with anti bacterial washing up liquid! Besides there are so many nasties in those cleaning fluids.

Yay...you're in :)x
ReplyDeleteHI Victoria, congratulations on finally moving in, you should get some tips from The domestic godess, Kelly
ReplyDeleteHugs RosieP x
Hope you are very happy in your new home surrounded by all the pretty things you've been collecting.
ReplyDeleteTop tip - amazing how much you can get done in 10 minute bursts - better than a marathon cleaning session ;)
Congratulations on your move in Victoria! I hope you will have very happy memories there! As for something I cannot live without......Bar Keeper's Friend. It's pretty amazing. gets burnt marks from pans with ease and great on sinks, ovens, kettles, toasters etc. Makes things look good as new again. I am a rubbish house cleaner but when I use this at least things look semi decent and loved! he he! Have a fab day! Love and hugs Vanessa xxx
ReplyDeleteGood luck in your new home, I hope you will have a happy time there! Mmmm I am not much of a housekeeper myself so I know you just have to keep up with things, don't let them take over you. So don't wait until there is a pile of mail, two piles of magazines and 4 piles of laundry to do. Try to have a schedule and do everything regularly. (If I could only take my own advice ;-)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the move!
ReplyDeleteA money saving cleaning tip. When I first bought my cleaning products for the kitchen i bought a spray bottle of flash now I just buy the bottled stuff and dilute it in the spray bottle. It lasts ages longer and you're not spending extra on the spray bottle every time. XxX
Congratulations on moving, I hope you really enjoy living in your new home.
ReplyDeleteFor me, home = cosiness, so I like to have plenty of blankets and cushions around the sitting room, ready to pull over myself at any time, I guess I could not live without my blankies, they are sooo cosy! xxxx
Congratulations!!
ReplyDeleteWell, you probably already got or know a lot of homemaking tips, but one thing that I can't live without is Cillit Bang for my sink and taps. It takes all the soap scum and any lime scale away in a blink of an eye without the need of scrubbing like mad.
:)
xx
Hurrah! Congratulations and Happy Days in your new home.
ReplyDeleteMy tip? Lolol, well I am the world's worst housewife, so I don't have any. Just be comfortable in your own home, if that includes a little mess, so what? If you clean, do it for yourself, not because others might pop in and be shocked to see magazines lying about or a speck of dust on the mantlepiece. Friends will take you as you are, messy, tidy, whatever. Please yourself, not others.
Congratulations! My tip - don't put off what you can do today! and that includes cleaning the loo!

Congratulations - enjoy your new home!!! My tip is: always make sure you bake loads of cakes for your visitors.... oh and invite me round for a cuppa!!!!!
ReplyDeletexxxx
Congratulations Victoria, very happy for you!!
ReplyDeleteAngie xxx
I am soooo happy for you! Tips... Always try to tidy each time you leave a room (ha ha coming from me!) My Grandad always wiped the fronts of cupboards, etc, while he waited for the kettle to boil, thus he always had a shiny kitchen! I usually forget! :) suzie. xxx
ReplyDeleteElbow grease is the best and cheapest cleaner, but if not use Ecover or similar - don't fill your house with chemicals to poison you! And open windows to refresh the air. My favourite utensil is the kettle, followed by the cake tin! A cup of tea and a biscuit will provide the solution to many of life's ills.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are very happy in your new home - and best wishes for your new life there.

I can't live without my Pizza cutter!!!
ReplyDeleteAlso you'll probably find you'll spend a fortune on food to start, but once you've realised what you actually need and use in a week you'll actually satrt saving yourself money.
keep a little emergancy kit together with a torch, kitchen roll, plasters, phone numbers, matches, candle, batteries etc together and make sure at least 2 people have a spare key!!!!
xx
No tips - just enjoy it
ReplyDeleteAlison
Congratulations!!! Not sure what tips I have...hmm...yes, actually I do -make sure you have a working smoke alarm and plan of exit in case of an emergency - a bit negative, I know but a friend of mine had to jump 32 ft out of a burning third floor apartment the other day so...I think it is good advice. A more cheerful piece...flowers - plenty of fresh flowers! :) xxx
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on moving in officially.
ReplyDeleteJust remember that your house is your home and that you should be very happy there.
Have fun,
Rachael XX
hmm. No sensible tips for you, just fun ones. Always have choccies and something sparkly to offer guests :o) Oh, and teabags of course!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on moving in! xx
Yay! lovely keyring from Sophie!!!
ReplyDeleteI would have to say just enjoy it, have everything your way!
Oh and let me stay over loads :)
Ah, just popped back to say, thanks for your lovely comment:)
ReplyDeleteHave fun,
Rachael xx
Glad you like it Victoria, I thought It would help with your new keys.
ReplyDeleteWhen I moved in to my first flat I spent ages on the cleaning as I wasn't used to doing it!!(living with parents has it's plus sides) then I moved Gav in and he does all the cleaning now.
My top tip would be find a man that likes cleaning.LOL.
Luv Sophie xxxx
Congratulations!! How fantastic! I once heard it said that it's nice to have a living thing in every room (was it BrocanteHome?).
ReplyDeleteI try to have a pretty (and hearty!) houseplant, or a little vase of cheap & cheerful flowers from the grocery store in every room! It does make a difference, it's like walking in a room and seeing a smile!
I sorta lost you in blogland and discovered you again today!!
ReplyDeleteWow! You are out on your own now!!!!
Awesome,Time to pull out all those goodies you have been collecting!!!!
My Tip is to clean showers down with a broom and whatever cleaner you like,I use demestos!
It scrubs up the grout and does'nt break your back.
Happy belated House warming!
