Knitting Memories

With my new found love of knitting I couldn’t resist these pattern booklets on eBay recently, especially as I remember them from my childhood

My mum knitted many of the clothes for my Sindy dolls and my brothers Action Man so I look forward to seeing how I get on with them!

I’m aware we’ve all been having some problems accessing/waiting for blogs to load, leaving comments etc and I thought I’d pass on this lovely bloggers advice

It seems blogger problems are with internet explorer and using Firefox should solve them

I’ve spent the past couple of weeks visiting all your blogs via firefox and haven’t experienced any more issues so I definitely recommend you give it a try!

TV Bliss

Although I caught the odd episode I never seemed to watch Lark Rise to Candleford when it was on tv so decided to rent the first series from the library

Last night I snuggled in bed and popped the first disc on and was in tv heaven!

I think my favourite characters of the Pratt sisters

And oh how I wish I could travel back in time and run my own post office!

What a Year!

I have a lot of catching up to do today having spent the past few days in bed doing a lot of this

sneeze

Thankfully it wasn’t severe enough to be the dreaded swine flu but it knocked me for six all the same – us bloggers can always tell how ill we are by the fact we haven’t even switched on the laptop!

My family have also had some more bad news, my dads aunt suffered a stroke on Wednesday evening and died yesterday afternoon. A tragedy at any time but seems more so, so soon after loosing my Nan. Once again my family are all joining together to make necessary arrangements, it does make me thankful that we are such a close family

On a more pleasant note you may have already read Kelly's post about our trip to MAC for some Bridal make up lessons

If I do say so myself we both looked fantastic!

Unfortunately the lady who worked on me wasn’t very clear with her instructions so I’m a bit concerned about recreating the look so I think I will go back to a local branch and see if I can get some more guidance

I have an awful lot of blogs to catch up with, a room that needs a good airing to banish any germs and phone calls to help my parents with so I best get going!!

Pushing Daisies

I didn’t watch Pushing Daisies when it was on tv but a few friends recommended I should so I have borrowed it from the library to watch over the weekend
Layout 1
I’m not completely sold on the storylines so far but visually I’m loving it!
Especially Olive Snook’s apartment!

Our Molly

Yesterday my family got together on what would've been my nan's birthday to spread her ashes and plant a flower in our garden to remember her by

Kelly was put on the case to find an appropriate rose and she did very well with finding one called Our Molly

Nan's name was Mary but known to everyone as Molly so it was perfect. It was not a sad occasion and we all smiled when my 6 year old cousin asked to say some words to nan and said "thank you for the sweets" (she had the best sweetie draw for us grandkids!)

Today mum and I went to the boot sale following a clear out at home
After mum had finished reading the latest copy of Living she decided to have a walk round the other stalls and I asked her to look out for Ladybird books – unfortunately she misunderstood and returned with these modern versionsI kept laughing that she had redeemed herself a few moments later when she went for a second walk and came back with some of these which I added to on my walk round to see total Ladybird books brought today to 24Look at them all!!!!

I said I didn’t mind how much money we made personally the Ladybird books were worth going anyway!

I’m going to be uploading my Ladybird books to this flickr group and I’ve also decided to set up an Enid Blyton one here to add some of my collection to like those I picked up today

Saturday Finds

I paid a visit to my favourite charity shop today and managed to come home with some good finds

Pyrex seemed to be the theme of the day first with these 2 bowls

thrifting 023

and then these plates and bowls

thrifting 024

I wasn’t sure whether to buy these or not but then I imagined the plates in the Autumn with shepherds pie and apple crumble on them and they fell into my shopping basket!

A pretty tablecloth

And of course no thrifting trip is complete without Enid Blyton books

And a lucky Ladybird find and some vintage knitting needles

Tomorrow mum and I are off to a boot sale to get rid of some bits and pieces following a clear up. Hopefully I’ll be able to sneak off and spend some earnings

Calorie Free Cakes!

I took a spare copy of Martha Stewart Living to work yesterday for a like minded colleague and we started chatting about knitting and my lesson last Saturday, even discussing setting up a knitting group!)
Today she surprised me with this wonderful knitted cupcake as a thank you

How kind and what a talented lady!
Hopefully this will inspire me to make something similar in the future
