Saturday So Far....

I've decided to take a weekend off from all the re-organising at home and taken part in some more leisurely pursuits!

First stop this morning was breakfast with my friend Ben and his mum and then over to my parents to see my niece

and nephew

It became a larger family gathering than expected with the arrival of my aunt and 2 cousins!

Next on my to do list was a trip to the local nail shop

Once that was done I was able to head home, get comfortable on the sofa and watch an episode of True Blood before I get ready for my evening in the audience of A League of their Own

Whilst not a sports fan I love this tv program and find it very funny so I can't wait for the laughs to be had!

Tomorrow my mum will be dropping round my new Dyson which arrived today (soooo excited!) so I'm sure for once I'll be happily hoovering anything and everything!

New Obsession

The weekend before last I found myself in front of the laptop with Google Reader telling me I had no unread items....

What does one do?

I stumbled upon Tumblr via Brocante Home and so the obsession began!

I love looking at photos, particularly of home interiors, make up and luxury goods and here they were in abundance! The great thing about Tumblr is anything that catches your eye you simply "reblog" and it appears on your own page

I've been having great fun re-blogging gorgeous photos and you can view my page here

The great thing is whilst following many beautiful blogs whose pictures appear in the dashboard (much like blogger) I've also added some to Google Reader so I am constantly receiving gorgeousness throughout the day! It is now unheard of for me to wake in the morning with in excess of 300 posts to scan through and they keep coming throughout the day!

FIRE!

Not my usual style of tv viewing but I have been tuning in to Channel 5's Stansted: The Inside Story as my brother is due to feature!

He is a fireman at Stansted Airports fire station and tonight's show features their work

Here is my brother (on the left) in last weeks preview

I can't wait to see him at work this evening!

New furniture!

Last week I promised to share photos of my new bookcase and then found myself unable to post due to a busy week! Therefore today's post will show you the bookcase and my new sideboard and dining table!

So without further ado, here is my new bookcase

I haven't time to properly work with the shelves and arrange them how I'd like and they already look different since I took this photo but I want to let them evolve over time as I work towards completing the look of the rest of the room

Yesterday was the arrival of my sideboard which takes centre stage

You can see sideboards I had in this space previously here and here

Finally is my lovely new dining table

Do excuse the boxes underneath they're not due to be a permanent feature!

This dining table is much improved from my previous one which due to its weight was very difficult to move around and use properly!

I now need to get rid of the old sideboard which is still living in my living room and add some chairs so that the table can be sat round!

Lovely Day!

Well for a single gal like me Valentines Day was rather enjoyable!

I returned home from work to find a Pandora bag sitting on the table with a heart charm inside from my mum!

Next it was time to check the post box, no cards but there was a cheque from the tax office for a few hundred pound! Hmmm I'll take that over a card any day!

Then it was the arrival of my friend Ben, unfortunately due to train troubles we'd both had difficulties getting home from work so we decided to indulge in fish (chicken for me!) and chips  at home rather than battling for a table elsewhere

Ben had brought me a lovely present

All together now... aaaaahhhhh!

Then it was off to the cinema to see Gnomeo & Juliet which is FANTASTIC!!!

I cannot recommend this film enough, I laughed at the funny bits and gasped (probably a bit too much for a 31 year old in a kids film!) at the "scary" bits. There's a great soundtrack with no surprising many Elton songs reworded to fit the gnome theme!

If you get a chance to see it I can't recommend it enough!

Shelf Stacker!

Today I am taking delivery of a new bookcase so I will have shelves to adorn with pretties so last night I gathered some goodies together all ready to organise on the shelves!

I'll be back tomorrow to show the finished work!

Molton Brown Nearly Nude Lipstick

Don't fear you haven't stumbled across a blog of a seedy nature, Nearly Nude refers to my favourite lipstick by Molton Brown. I discovered this lipstick sometime ago and was devastated when they discontinued it but there was joy last year when it was relaunched although I was warned by the sales assistant when making my last purchase that it may be on it's way out again so it looks like I might need to start stocking up!

Updated: Please note this lipstick has since been discountinued

Hamper Happiness!

I was lucky enough to acquire another Fortnum & Mason hamper from work before Christmas and love the square shape!

It will be a new feature of my living room which I have big plans for over the next couple of weeks with the arrival this weekend of a new bookcase!

Book Review | In Bloom by Alice Whatley

This week I'm still reading Celebrity Shopper by Carmen Reid following a week commuting with friends so chatting was on the agenda more often than reading!

I do also have a copy of In Bloom by Alice Whately that I picked up from the library at the weekend

As you can imagine this book is filled with pages of floral inspiration for the home and I could happily step right into the pages!

Weekend Roundup!

Is everyone having a fabulous weekend?

Once again I've continued being productive at home rewarding myself with a gorgeous roast chicken dinner last night

This morning is was back round my parents to see my niece and nephew

Violet is now 8lb 3oz so I'm not so scared to break her anymore!

When I arrived home I decided to give my bathroom a good clean and finally put up some pictures that have been waiting around for some time

Here's a tour round the rest of my bathroom

Kelly brought me this picture from the famous Rose Bowl Flea Market in LA and it fits perfectly with my bathroom, the following 2 pictures were all brought in LA and are waiting to be framed

I inherited this floral arrangement from my SIL when they moved from a cottage to a modern flat - it perfectly makes the toilet look more attractive!

Another picture picked up at a boot sale and just a couple of bottles from my extensive toiletry collection!

A thrifted mug makes a great toothbrush holder, a murano glass mirror brought on one of my holidays with Kelly, as was the pink pineapple which contains a gorgeous smelling candle I've yet to light!

The Lladro mermaid was brought on my last holiday with my nan and she was the one to tell me to buy it so it's very special

and the last photo from my tour is my cute lil bear who sits on top of my Lloyd Loom laundry basket

Now I must go as I have brownies to bake and sausage rolls to prepare for a birthday at work tomorrow then it's an evening watching Dancing on Ice followed by a relaxing bath!

Happy Birthday!

Today is my wonderful sister-in-law's 30th birthday

There's no lie in for me today as I'll be up at 8am to say a quick hello as she drops my nephew off at my parents to allow my brother to take her out for the day! (and don't worry my niece isn't home alone, she's being looked after by her other nanny!)

Book Review | Celebrity Shopper by Carmen Reid

This week I'm carrying on with the tales of Annie Valentine this time focussing on the downside of fame as a tv star in Celebrity Shopper

The only problem with reading these books is all wanting to go out clothes shopping!!!
