Bring out the Bunting!

The table is laid, the bunting has been hung, I have Union Jacks everywhere and my mum has cooked a ham all for tomorrow's BIG EVENT

I'll be watching with mum, two of my aunts and my SIL when we'll have lot's of champagne and lot's of nibbles! 

I can't wait - where will you be watching?

Chanel Nail Polish - 307 Orange Fizz

The warm weather called for my nails to be repainted in Orange Fizz by Chanel

It's a lovely colour and I'm waiting for the release of Mimosa a yellow shade which I think will be perfect for Summer - I'm a complete Chanel nail polish junkie and can never resist picking one up whenever I'm shopping!

Bank Holiday Booty!

I was up bright and early this morning and headed off to my first boot sale of the day

I found 5 Cherry B glasses which I thought would be fun to serve some bucks fizz in on Friday when toasting Wills & Kate

When I told my dad about my find he produced 2 bottles of Cherry B itself from the fridge - I haven't tried it yet!

I went to a second boot sale which was quite small and all I picked up was an ice cream but it was nice to be out and about in the sunshine and home by lunchtime!

The rest of the day I'm pottering around doing some reorganising, a friend is popping in shortly and then it's time to prepare for back to work tomorrow - at least it's only a 3 day week!

Easter Sunday with the family

I have had a lovely today with my family at my parents house

There were cuddles with my niece and nephew

An egg and spoon race

And a mini photo shoot for my cousin and I!

And some more famous hand print artwork from my nephew!

I hope you have all had as lovely a day as I've had today with your families - and even better there's no Sunday night blues as tomorrow is another day off work!

First Boot Sale of 2011

The sun was out and it was the perfect today to hit my first boot sale of 2011

Here's my haul...

Mickey's Fire Truck is for my nephew as an Easter gift

Perfect for a Disney loving son of a fireman!

There was a collection of these bathing beauties, this was my favourite

Lady was £5 but when I was offered her for £4 I couldn't say no and the seller offered Minnie & Donald for £2 each so of course they couldn't be left behind

And then of course the standard Ladybird book finds and some Dr Suess flashcards (again for my nephew)

There's another couple of boot sales for me to visit tomorrow, I can't wait to see what else I find!

As you know I have recently brought a new dining table and it was put to use last weekend entertaining some friends but I need new chairs

Whilst I am keen to try and make some chairs look like this I didn't have time to achieve this in time for my friends arrival so of course I headed to IKEA

These chairs may be intended for use in the garden but I loved their colour and for £15 a bargain (and they were already assembled!) and thought they looked just right and my guests even commented how comfortable they were!

And don't they look just perfect with my gorgeous seat cushions picked up from The Vintage & Handmade Fair a few years ago!

Book Review | It's What You Think by Chris Evans

With time off work last week and lack on interest in my latest books there hasn't been much reading for me but that is to change with my latest read

This week its time to hear about Chris Evans from his life from the book "It's Not What You Think"

A random choice for me but a friend at work was talking about it and that it was worth reading, supplying me with a copy and so far he's not wrong!

We all know the tabloid stories about Chris Evans so I'm looking forward to hearing about them his own words! I do look autobiographies

I'm pleased to report that my dinner with friends was a success!

We drank margaritas, ate fajita's and indulged in some margarita ice cream I made which I will post the recipe for in the week (it was soooo good and so easy to make!)

Spring Cleaning Progress!

First some stats...

Total no. of bin bags: 6

No. of pictures hung: 12

No. of black sacks of washing given to my mum: 2

It's been a long day and as is always the case everything takes longer than expected!

I can confirm that my kitchen has been thoroughly cleaned thanks to the help off my mum!

My bedroom is looking like the luxurious boudoir I'd planned and I can't wait to crawl into bed!

Today I'm off to IKEA to buy some chairs and then Tesco to stock up for my feast on Saturday returning home to start prepping, planning and continue with the clean up

SPRING CLEAN!

I have today off work and what fun plans do I have????

As the title suggests Spring Cleaning is on today's agenda!

I've brought new furniture, there's a new rug and even a new Dyson but yet my cleaning regime leaves a lot to be desired! If you were to walk in my flat you'd be forgiven for thinking squatters had moved in!

Only in my world would a pizza box, 3 Yankee Candles, a Hello Kitty keyring and bottles of margarita mix be found together!

These make up brushes have sat in this jug to be cleaned (I have been changing the water!) for weeks now 

                                  

But all this will end today! I have friends over for dinner Saturday and one makes Monica (from Friends) look messy so I know my cleaning habits will be under scrutiny! Even my mum has been drafted in to assist!

It might be nearly 1am but I'm currently emptying old jars of food past their sell by date to clean and dot around my home with tealights and my freezer is waiting to be organised before I'll allow myself some sleep!

I'm actually looking forward to it! Sometimes I think I enjoy making a mess as seeing it tidy again makes you feel like you've achieved something!!

Please don't judge me!

Happy Birthday to Ya!

What a fabulous birthday weekend I had and the perfect weather for it!

Friday I joined friends and their children for lunch in our favourite cafe

Cocktails and dancing have been replaced with coffee's and babies!

I had a relaxing nap after all the gossiping then joined my friend and parents for a drink at their local watering hole followed by my favourite dinner, chicken kebab!

The celebrations continued on Saturday with some betting on the Grand National

Silliness whilst shopping for homewares

and a little food to accompany some DVD watching

We couldn't let the fun end there and on Sunday I met a new man...

Grinned proudly at anyone doubting the purchased flowers would fit in my car

When in fact it was going to be the frame stored in the boot that would not make the journey in one piece!

So there it is, my birthday weekend! Different from some years spent recovering the rest of the weekend following one night of debauchery but just as enjoyable!
