New Years Eve!

I'm never a fan of New Years Eve usually preferring to stay at home and wake up the next day fresh and ready to start the new year

This year though my friends have decided to make it impossible to avoid celebrating

If you have stopped by Kelly's blog you will have seen she is in hospital awaiting delivery of her little angel - what a way to start the new year!

And my friend Ben decided the easiest way to get me out of the house on NYE was to throw a party so that is how I will be seeing in 2011 with a houseful of friends and raising a glass to Kelly & her family

I hope you enjoy seeing in the New Year however you please with friends and family

All Over For Another Year!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas?

Mine was lovely and spent visiting with various friends and family and I received some wonderful presents

I have to admit I have been extremely lazy this week, relaxing on the sofa and watching bad TV - but that's what time off from work is for!

Work's Out & First Presents

I'm pleased to say that yesterday was my last day at work until 2011 - let the festivities begin!

I also had a friend visit yesterday evening and received my first Christmas present

My first pair of Cath Kidston pj's!

Aren't they gorgeous!

There's plenty for me to do today so I'll leave you with some close up photos of some of my Christmas decorations

I hope you're all staying warm and safe during the "Big Freeze"

Christmas Lists!

When I saw Josie-Mary's Christmas list I had to join in the fun!

1. Hot Chocolate or apple cider?
Can I be fussy and ask for Winter Pimms?

2. Turkey or Ham?
You can't have Christmas without a turkey but I do love ham, egg and chips for dinner on the days between Christmas and New Year

3. Do you get a fake or real-you-cut-it-yourself Christmas tree?
I've always been firm on having to have a real Christmas tree although on moving into my flat realising how fussy I am about things have to look and the cosy of buying a real tree each year I invited in my 7 foot fake tree

4. Decorations on the outside of your house?
Living in flat decorations outside aren't a possibility!

5. Snowball fights or sleddin’?
Ooooh snowball fight

6. Do you enjoy going downtown shopping?
Ermmm I think "downtown" refers to small retailers in the US so I guess it's like our British high streets which have been a saviour to me during the snowfall. Unable to drive today it's amazing the amount of last minute Christmas presents I've been able to pick up on my trip into town

7. Favorite Christmas song?
Do They Know It's Christmas.... it's been a fun tradition/joke with a dj friend of mine that at any party in the Summer we always put this on and I can guarantee it ALWAYS gets people up singing and dancing

8. How do you feel about Christmas movies?
I usually love them although this year I haven't really managed to sit down and watch any. I'm due to wrap some presents later today so maybe it's time to fit on in

9. When is it too early to start listening to Christmas music?
As per my favourite Christmas song - it's never too early

10. Stockings before or after presents?
Stockings are always the first thing to be opened... they are waiting in bedrooms for when we awake and always contained magazines and sweets to occupy my brother and I so that my parents would get some more time in bed

11. Go to someone else’s house or they come to you?
Christmas Day has always been spent at my parents and then I jump in my car and visit friends and family of an evening

12. Do you read the Christmas Story? If so when?
I don't read it.... maybe I should start

13. What do you do after presents and dinner?
Presents are opened in the morning.... there's no way I could wait till after dinner!

14. What is your favorite holiday smell?
Cinnamon!

15. Ice skating or walking around the mall?
Walking around the mall

16. Do you open a present or presents on Christmas Eve, or wait until Christmas day?
Christmas Eve I'm allowed to open one present and it's always a pair of pj's to wear

17. Favorite Christmas memory?
Boxing Day is my "real" Christmas Day when all my family and some friends gather at my parents for fun and games. One year we were playing a drawing game using an easel my younger cousin had been brought. All the family joined in.... 2 teams.... competitive spirits.... bad drawing..... we still talk about how much fun we all had cheering and encouraging each other

18. Favorite Part about winter?
Walking.... I'm usually the first to jump into my car but when the snow hits I'll happily climb into my Uggs and walk wherever I need to go!

19. Ever been kissed under mistletoe?
Not for a few years!

What would you choose?!

Looking a lot like Christmas

My time at home has been well spent making my flat feel cosy and Christmassy!

Red covers have been put on my sofas

Mickey, Minnie & Alice invited some friends over

Sunday Kelly & James joined my brother and his family to help me decorate my Christmas tree

The fairy on top of the tree is my old Flower Fairy doll. My mum brought it for me when I was younger as she thought it looked like me and then brought the Christmas outfit for it and she would sit on the tree at my parents (until my mum's tree decorating became too superior to an old Flower Fairy!) and now she is passed to my tree - I love her grubby little face!!!

And here is our handy work!
(please excuse the bin bag!!)

Brody seems to have found it tiring work!

How is your decorating going?

Happy Birthday!

Today I'm wishing my lovely nephew Brody a Happy 2nd Birthday

Sadly yesterday's trip to Father Christmas was a little distressing for Brody

although we're all LOVING this picture - can't wait to get this out on his 21st birthday!!

We had planned a trip to the zoo today but unfortunately Brody isn't well so instead it's round to his mum and dads for lunch and presents

An Audience with Santa!

I have a couple of days off work starting tomorrow and we're taking my nephew to meet Father Christmas

You may remember our trip to Van Hagues last year

Unfortunately they are only offering weekend meet and greets so this year it's off to the Essex girls favourite - Lakeside!!

I'll be back with more photos very soon!

Book Review | Mini Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella

It's been sometime since I've shared with you what I'm reading because I haven't felt the inclination to pick up a book and there haven't been any to tell you about!

Until of course the latest Shopaholic book arrived on the library shelf for me!

Unfortunately I'm not enjoying Mini Shopaholic as much as the previous offerings. Sadly the film has somewhat ruined the image of Becky Bloomwood I had in my head and it doesn't feel so personal anymore

Are you a Shopaholic fan who feels the same?

Lot's of Laughs

It may be Monday but today I'm not so glum as I've had a fantastic weekend filled with lot's of fun and laughter!

Friday started with a trip to see Dirty Dancing on stage.... despite seats in the second row and a Johnny with a rather eye pleasing six pack we did think it was more like a very good school production rather than a west end hit. The ending and the infamous "no one puts baby in the corner" was VERY cheesy and had my friend and I in a fit of laughter all the way home!

Saturday it was off to Cambridge for a day of shopping and lunch with my aunts and cousins. My cousins and I were in a silly mood whilst waiting for our pizzas

Hmmmm who says you shouldn't play with your food?

There were almost some tears when mum wouldn't treat Beth to Donald!

How much fun can you have with a packet of Percy Pigs?!

In between shopping and theatre trips I've also been doing some further much needed jobs around home including putting some of my pictures on the wall

Curtains and pictures on the wall are certainly helping the room feel much cosier!

I hope your weekend was filled with lots of laughs too
