Happy Hangover Helpers

The irony that today's post should've been published Tuesday but I was still recovering the after effects of the weekends activities is not lost on me. Especially when I didn't even manage to publish until today because brunch yesterday turned into lunch time drinks and well, you get the picture. Let's say these products have been thoroughly tested in the 'hangover' scenario. All of you exclaiming 'I'm getting old' as you approach your mid twenties, I can't wait till you get to your thirties and experience the two day hangovers.

Interestingly if I'm a little 'tipsy' I tend to become more thorough with my cleansing routine when I arrive home. If I passed tipsy hours ago the chances are I'll just face plant into bed fully clothed. If it's been the latter come morning I'll reach for Superdrug Naturally Radiant Glycolic Acid Pads* to perk up my dull and lacklustre skin which you can currently find for only £2.95. A quick swipe of these pads soaked in Glycolic Acid and fruit AHA's across my skin, rough side first and finished with the smooth side and I start to look far perkier than when the alarm awoke me from my slumber.

Pixi Hydration Review

This is followed by a wake up spritz from the appropriately named Pixi Vitamin Wakeup Mist* which smells fruity thanks to being orange blossom water based and adds much hydration to my skin from a spray that isn't an assault on the face. I have been known to reach for this on multiple occasions throughout the day to refresh my skin and keep me going throughout the day.

You'll notice a theme when I tell you my next step is to reach for Pixi H2O Skindrink Hydration Gel* hailed as 'thirsty skin relief in a tube' and it really is. This 'super-hydrating' gel will rejuvenate, cool and instantly refresh the skin. One pump is all you need and as you moisturise into the skin it does feel very water like and you instantly feel the skin looking plumper and more alive. There is a nice scent from the green tea, aloe vera and rosemary all designed to protect and heal and they feel comforting when nausea is starting to set in. Pixi suggest you can chill before use for extra de-puffing which I think would be fabulous, especially for those boozy holidays when you might have indulged in one too many cocktails.

The last thing I want to think about with a hangover is my hair so I bow down to the dry shampoo gods to make my do of the day look passable. A new product I've been trying recently is Not Your Mother's Clean Freak Dry Shampoo which my friend picked up for me on a recent US trip. It's a fave brand of hers that she always stocks up on and favours it for no powdery residue which is ofter a bug bear for dry shampoo users and certainly something you don't want to be fighting with when you're struggling to keep your eyes open. I'm pretty impressed that even on my brunette roots there is no residue and it certainly gives my hair a lift so I don't have to endure the sound of the hairdryer going the morning after the night before. It's not necessarily something I'd seek out as I can't live without it as I'm pretty happy with my Colab and Batiste offerings but perhaps when I'm in the US later this year I'll check out more of the Not Your Mother's range.

The Breath Co Review

And finally let's try and give our friends, family or colleagues a thought and rather than breathing stale alcohol breath. Now we've all been there gagging brushing our teeth of a morning but needs must and an extra step that's worth adding, especially when you've work up in the morning with a dry mouth is The Breath Co Oral Rinse* complete with 'natural salivary stimulants'. I've discussed before how The Breath Co is one of few brands whose products actually don't kick start my gag reflex which is common even without the hangovers. I did think that the flavour 'tingling mint' might be a little much for me and was tentative to use at first but I've found it quite refreshing and pleasant - and this is from someone who doesn't like mint. There is a little lingering minty after taste so be careful with what you choose to drink before that has gone but otherwise it's definitely something that you'll be thanked for using.

What are your hangover cures?
