New Year New Diary

Happy New Year everyone, hands up if you're suffering today? Not me, I spent the evening at home, eating chinese food and alcohol free as I'm not a big fan of NYE so I'm feeling quite smug that I feel so sprightly.

I'm also not one for resolutions and new year new me claims as if there's something I need to change I will do so at any point of the year. The beginning of January is an exciting time for me as it's my best friends birthday and this year it's the big 3-0 so there is a BIG party planned next weekend so it's not exactly conducive to dieting and giving up alcohol. I'm still off work for the rest of the week so instead I will be concentrating on sorting out my home, packing away the Christmas tree and making the most of my free time before the routine of work kicks in on Monday.

One thing I love about the new year is a new diary. I still plan to use my Domino Filofax you saw in this post but for home I love the Moleskine Diary and Planner. I use this diary as a journal, adding my ticket stubs, invites, cards and other bits and bobs I gather throughout the year. So many years have been spent throwing these things in a box to never be seen again but this method means I have everything in one place I can look through and is neatly organised in one place.

How do you keep your memories for the year? Do you use a diary?

  1. This reminds me that I need to get myself a new diary for 2014! My life is definitely more organised when I have one.

  3. I love buying stationary and next time I'm in town I'll pick up a new diary for 2014 - it's wonderful with a completely new book, so many empty pages that you can fill with anything you want. :O). Xx

  4. Happy New Year! I'm a big fan of Moleskine diaries and get a new one every year. It's a really good idea to use it to keep track of everything that happens as opposed to just planning etc. Maybe I just need to start blogging a bit more to keep track of the stuff that happens.

    1. Blogging is definitely a great way to keep track of what you've done throughout the year

  5. I've gone back to a cheapie A4 Smiths one with space to write what I want to get done during each week. I used to use these when I was self-employed; in the days when I was organised!! Ha ha!!
I think I just need a Dictaphone hanging round my neck at all times, y'know, for all those 'bits' I need to remember...my name, where I live etc!!
    Happy New Year!

    1. I wish I could invent a device that reads my mind, whenever I'm walking around I come up with all sorts and then forget to write it down!

  7. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! I love a new diary - hubby bought me a filofax type from Paperchase but if I'm honest I prefer a diary this has things missing like which days are the bank holidays!! Look forward to reading your posts in the coming year xx

    1. That's exactly why I like it. So often I've tried to do 'proper' art journals and memory books and they've rarely got past day 1. This keeps all the memories in one place and you can add anything along the way.

  9. Smugs of the world unite! I can't think of anything worse than starting a new year feeling like poo!

Love the memory diary idea. So need to pinch the idea immediately!

  10. I thoroughly agree about resolutions and changing or starting something new as and when necessitates, not waiting for New Year.
I carry a diary with me at all times, it is a must when you do shift work or you'd never know what time or days you were meant to be working. Only a small one though, I can't be doing with carrying heavy things around - my back and shoulder can't take it.
    Happy New Year x

    1. My back can't really take mine so I don't have it with me all the time but completely understand why you choose a smaller one.

  11. I love my work diary but never use one at home. I prefer icalendar, it's great because you can look back at any time to see what you were doing on that day! I hate new year new you, I'm more inclined to do it in September xx

  12. I always keep a diary, a full A4 one at home and a mini one in purse for on the go. With three kids and a full time job (as well as blogging) I need to keep everything on track and having a diary helps me do this
