#mydubai | Day 2

Sunday was our first 'proper' day in Dubai. I say proper but by that I mean we woke up in the beds went to sleep in. The day was spent as you would expect, round the pool and realising just how hot the Dubai sun could be.

Over our afternoon tea we started putting together our wishlists of what we wanted to do and where we wanted to eat. Lewis and Lavinia have a friend who lives in Dubai so he had provided us with a host of suggestions, one of which was Sass Cafe which we decided would be the perfect spot for our first night out.

First of course we had to take advantage of the pre-dinner drinks and canapes available at our hotel. For two hours there was an array of spring rolls, cheeses, crisps and the like as well as a variety of cocktails. As you can see the Strawberry Daiquiri was a favourite of mine.

Walking into the Sass Cafe was amazing and it's safe to say the evening was in full swing. Entering the crowded bar was filled with people and the music we could hear was from singers walking around the tables and bar area - she even shared the mike with Ben a few times.

Kate Moss might be having a bit of 'moment' right now but that didn't stop me loving the huge artwork of her that dominated the bar area. And reminiscent of that Valentine's dinner scene in the Sex and the City movie red and black balloons carpeted the ceiling.

Sass Cafe originated in Monaco by a father and son team and Sass Cafe Dubai is the first of it's kind to branch out on it's own. It's very much a dining and entertainment experience as evidenced from us walking in.

We were lucky enough to have a table seated right in front of the piano where the dancing were doing there thing throughout the night. As we took our seats music dimmed and the singers swapped over to an even more lively beat.

The extensive menu offered many treats of which I only snapped a few (I did mention that low lighting didn't I). This was my first time trying Burrata and it's a thumbs up from me. For mains Jo and I couldn't decide between lamb chops and gnocchi so decided to share both. Jo was worried I wouldn't enjoy my lamb chops as being pregnant they would need to be served well done but its a thumbs up to the chef who cooked them perfectly to meet both our needs.

As the resident dj started taking over and our plates were whisked away things certainly descended into a happy chaos as people begun dancing on tables and champagne was flowing. We decided to make our excuses and had our own fun outside posing for photos.
