POTATO!

How many fellow Celebrity Juice fans said "Potato" Keith Lemon style when you saw this posts' title?!

A couple of Sunday's ago I popped into my local supermarket and there was an abundance of reduced products on offer, including a bag of potatoes

I decided to give making my own potato dishes to freeze a go rather than relying on the processed versions available

I popped 3 in the oven to bake, one didn't make it to the freezer as they smelt too good but two were made into filled potatoes with some cheese and creme fraiche.

The rest were cut into wedges or peeled for roasts, bar poiled, cooled down and then popped in the freezer

I have to say the roast potatoes were some of the best I've ever made and was such a pleasure one Sunday afternoon to not worry about the peeling and boiling and all the associated mess and simply pop them from the freezer in to the oven

Don't they look delicious!

  8. I often prep roast spuds, by par boiling and then open freezing before shoving in a bag, and you are right, it's a fab time saver. Not done it for a while, but you've inspired me. Must get on with it. Even better if I can find some reduced price spuds!

But tell me, what do you do with the baked spuds to freeze? slice in half, fill, leave unfilled? That's not something I've done before and I think it would be a huge help for me. Details please :O) And the wedges are a corking idea too. Ta for that!

  10. It's a great idea to par boil them then freeze all ready just to pop in the oven. We're having jacket potatoes for tea tonight. I love them with crispy skins but Eleanor prefers them done in the microwave so that their skins are soft.
