Whats with the Wonderwall

I do hope I won't bore you with showing corners of my living room but as you know I've put a lot of effort into bringing it together and enjoy sharing with you!

One particular area that receives much attention and compliments is my "wonderwall" - especially due to it being the first thing that catches peoples eye as they enter the room

It's creation came about when I admired my SIL's wonderwall and deciding I wanted to do something similar but was told in no uncertain terms I needed a theme!

I had been admiring many images of couples on tumblr and  reblogging "love" quotes that a Love theme was decided upon. I started saving images to my desktop, preferring the non traditional images from Breakfast at  Tiffany's, Gone with the Wind etc changing them to black and white and then it was off to the local photographers to print them out in various sizes

Next stop was The Range for mounts and frames, with a few from IKEA for good measure and then the fun began starting with the Victoria bus sign from Oliver Bonas in the center

Here you can see Chanel's "in order to be irreplaceable" print from Rockett St George and a Dirty Dancing card  the postage of which was more than the card itself!

Many East of India signs feature on the wall as well as another print from Rockett St George

So that pretty much sums up my wonderwall! I hope you enjoyed a few details on the prints and images and I'll leave you with a close up of my new table arrangement for a splash of colour!

Mirror Mirror

After 2.5 years I have finally found a lovely handyman who was able to put my "mirror mirror" on the wall. This mirror (originally from Next - I promise I'm not sponsored by them just have an accommodating account withthem!!) used to hang in my bedroom at my parents and I naturally assumed that it would belong in the bedroom of my flat. Then I brought a rather large full length mirror and it wasn't needed

I started decorating my front room and thought the mirror would be perfect to replace what was previously in that space... but of course the problem remained that I still needed to find someone to attach it to the wall!

After 5 months I managed to track down a handyman in the local area who charged me a reasonable £30 to put on the wall - I couldn't have been happier but..... it was smaller than the previous mirror and of course its shape made it difficult for me to think how I could make use of the space around it

Ben joined me for dinner on Friday I explained how I was thinking about putting the sconces in the front room but couldn't decide where and he queried why I didn't put them alongside the mirror - brilliant idea... so that is what I have done... and I love it!

Mum decided that the white candles I originally had in place weren't suitable so she has popped in yesterday and replaced them with black ones which I agree are far more striking!

Its amazing how things can fall in to place and using decorations from other rooms can give a new lease of life to another

Lola Dining Chairs from Next

Following an unscheduled absence from my blog I'm back and should share what has caused my lack of blogging!

You may remember the "big reveal" of my living room back in March and since then I've been adding finishing touches, moving things around and generally pulling everything togetherI don't want to overload you with too many photos in this post but I will initally draw your attention to the fact I can now invite friends over for dinner and they'll have something to sit on!

The table was still missing something so I added some colour with another articifical flower arrangement. I can't recommend artificial flowers enough, this arrangement cost me £30 and will outlast the equivalent spend on fresh flowers.

DVD Days!

The past few weeks have been rather manic for me so come Saturday all I want to do is relax with nothing more taxing than watching a good film

It all started one Saturday popping round to join Ben and his sister for some lunch which as you can see we set out as a carpet picnic whilst we watched The VowThe following two weeks have been spent with Ben, companionably on a sofa each at my flat watching movie after movie! We've worked our way through; Bridesmaids, Two Weeks Notice, Scarface, Final Destination 5, Friends with Benefits and The Talented Mr Ripley - an eclectic mix don't you think!!

I won't mention the food we've worked our way through!!



POTATO!

How many fellow Celebrity Juice fans said "Potato" Keith Lemon style when you saw this posts' title?!

A couple of Sunday's ago I popped into my local supermarket and there was an abundance of reduced products on offer, including a bag of potatoes

I decided to give making my own potato dishes to freeze a go rather than relying on the processed versions available

I popped 3 in the oven to bake, one didn't make it to the freezer as they smelt too good but two were made into filled potatoes with some cheese and creme fraiche.

The rest were cut into wedges or peeled for roasts, bar poiled, cooled down and then popped in the freezer

I have to say the roast potatoes were some of the best I've ever made and was such a pleasure one Sunday afternoon to not worry about the peeling and boiling and all the associated mess and simply pop them from the freezer in to the oven
