Happy Birthday to Ya!

What a fabulous birthday weekend I had and the perfect weather for it!

Friday I joined friends and their children for lunch in our favourite cafe

Cocktails and dancing have been replaced with coffee's and babies!

I had a relaxing nap after all the gossiping then joined my friend and parents for a drink at their local watering hole followed by my favourite dinner, chicken kebab!

The celebrations continued on Saturday with some betting on the Grand National

Silliness whilst shopping for homewares

and a little food to accompany some DVD watching

We couldn't let the fun end there and on Sunday I met a new man...

Grinned proudly at anyone doubting the purchased flowers would fit in my car

When in fact it was going to be the frame stored in the boot that would not make the journey in one piece!

So there it is, my birthday weekend! Different from some years spent recovering the rest of the weekend following one night of debauchery but just as enjoyable!

Book Review | The Secret Shopper Affair by Kate Harrison

I finished The Girls Guide to Homemaking this week and loved it

Although not quite filled with domesticity as I might have liked I loved the snippets from yesteryears Homemaking guides and the story certainly resonated with me!

Yesterday I returned to the Secret Shopper series with The Secret Shopper Affair

I have read all the previous books so I was looking forward to hearing what the 3 secret shoppers have been up to! Unfortunately I couldn't get into the book on reading it to and from work. You know sometimes you know how a book is going to turn out and you're just not interested in how they get there?

Of course there was another book waiting to be read, Wicked Games by Sasha Wagstaff

I only have 1 day left of commuting to work for this week so we'll see if this read will stand the test!

I'd also like to take a moment to remember my Nan who left our family 2 years ago today

She was an avid reader too (Mills & Boon was her choice!) and I can always remember staying the night at her house and she'd get up in the morning to make us both a cup of tea and then we'd sit in bed reading together

New Gnashers!

Last Monday my braces were removed and here's the new smile. I am of course over the moon although it is a little weird to look at myself and not see a crooked tooth or braces staring back at me! If you want to see what I looked like before my braces follow the link.

I'm still having to wear a retainer at night which is not pleasant but no pain, no gain.

You've Been Framed

There has been something of a theme to my purchases and activities this weekend starting in the charity shop when I picked up this Lady and the Tramp picture

Then I picked up two frames for some Etsy prints to hang in my spare room

and then I joined the Keep Calm club, rushing home to hang it on the wall

and just kept adding pictures more pictures to the wall!

Naturally you're to ignore the post it notes keeping the print in place! I'll be off to look for a frame for that one later this week
