NYX Make Up link |
NYX is a brand of make up I've never really dabbled with it. It's not readily available in stores in the UK and whilst in the USA I think well I can get it in the UK so let's save the luggage allowance for what isn't.
That said when I went to the USA earlier in the year I picked up a couple of products that I had heard about through various blogs and YouTube channels and was recently lucky enough to receive some products from NYX to try.
The first was the Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk. For £5 you'll get either an eyeliner or eye shadow depending on your preference for using it. The NYX jumbo eye pencils receive mixed reviews and unfortunately my experience falls into the thumbs down group. Whilst the pencil is thick, creamy and opaque on application on my oily eyelids it creases and disappearances very quickly which is a shame as it significantly improves the colour of eyeshadows. I did dabble with using as a liner but I prefer a more natural look and this was a little too harsh.
After a browse of Miss Makeup Magpies fabulous Dupes Pinterest board (find it here) I saw that NYX Matte Lipstick in Shocking Pink was a dupe for Mac's Candy Yum Yum so I thought that was a good place to start. I spent most of the Summer wearing this lipstick. The wear is fantastic and I struggle to keep any lipstick on my lips and any worries of my lips drying out from the matte formula were unfounded.
NYX Butter Glosses are much hyped across blogs and YouTube but as I'm not a fan of glosses I glossed over (sorry couldn't resist the pun!) them when in the States (sorry couldn't resist the pun!). I've been kicking myself having received NYX Butter Gloss in Cherry Cheesecake* since. There is none of the sticky gloss formula I expect from a gloss and the pigmentation of NYX Butter Glosses is impressive. I've found myself wearing this gloss both alone and over lipsticks despite often finding shades of orange are not always suitable for me. Again priced at only £5 I would certainly like to see some pinks and reds enter my collection.
The final product I sent was NYX Propel My Eyes Mascara and it's a definite thumbs up from me. The thin wand perfectly separates and coats the lashes giving great length with no clumping to speak of. It's design is perfect for my on train application and makes it quick and easy. I'm not one for applying to my lower lashes on a day to day basis as I find it a bit of a faff but with this NYX mascara it makes it a breeze.
For those who enjoy shopping online you can find NYX here or in Next stores, I think it's time to hunt out my newest store and add some more items to my collection. Are you a NYX make up fan?
