Where are all the treasures?

car booty 111

My SIL has caught the boot sale bug so yesterday I took her along to my favourite sale, unfortunately we were met with a CLOSED sign on arrival
Not one to give up we decided to try the new boot sale opened in my town where I managed to spot an Enid Blyton book and some vintage knitting needlesI wasn’t entirely satisfied so we tried another and walked away empty handed… where have all the treasure sellers gone?!?!
Even a trip to my fave charity shop saw me leaving empty handed!
How did you get on at the boot sales this weekend was it just me that was unlucky?

STUFFED

I recently brought a copy of Stuffed magazine but alas it wasn't what I expected

Would any of you out there like to have a read through?

Please leave a comment on this post by Sunday 6th September if you would and should there be more than one of you interested I'll pull a name out of the hat!

We're off to see the Wizard

Twyla & Lindsey are hosting their Wizard of Oz gala and I’m so pleased to be joining in the fun!

Judy Garland's dress and blouse were in reality not white but pale pink. True white did not photograph properly in Technicolor and made the blue of her checked dress seem too bright

And those ruby slippers we know and love – they started out silver as in the book until it was decided that being in Technicolor coloured slippers would look better!

Ray Bolger was originally cast as the Tin Woodsman. However, he insisted that he would rather play the Scarecrow as his childhood idol had appeared in the role on stage
The Cowardly Lion's facial makeup included a brown paper bag meaning actor Bert Lahr couldn't eat without ruining his makeup. Tired of eating soup and milkshakes, he decided to eat lunch and have his makeup redone

Jack Haley took over the part of the Tin Man when Buddy Ebsen “dropped out”. Buddy had in fact been rushed to hospital unable to breathe due to the make up containing aluminium dust which coated his lungs.

Many of the Wicked Witch of the West's scenes were either trimmed or deleted entirely, as Margaret Hamilton's performance was thought too frightening for audiences. Margaret also suffered a serious injury on the set when her make-up heated up and nearly caught fire in the scene where she disappears in a cloud of orange smoke and fire. As it was, she suffered
second- and third-degree burns to her hands and face

In the movie Glinda is the good witch of the North. However, in L. Frank Baum's book, Glinda is the good sorceress of the South
The film received a mention in the Guiness Book of World Records as the film to which a live-action sequel was produced after the longest period of time (Return to Oz was released 46 years after The Wizard of Oz)

I hope you enjoyed hearing some fun facts from the Wizard of Oz

Now I'm off to check out what everyone else has done for this fun party!

Tres Chic!

Last night Kelly & I went to see Coco Before Chanel

It wasn't as good as I'd hoped but I still enjoyed the dip into Coco's world

I also came out with the following thoughts:

I wish I spoke French

I had an overwhelming desire to open my dad's wardrobe, cut up his suits and create Chanel-esq creations

My hunt for a pair of white men's pj's with black trim shall begin imminently

and

I still would love to own one of the trademark Chanel suits (and a matching bag obviously!)

We're off to see The Time Traveller's Wife at the weekend so I'm sure these whims will be replaced by a brain storming session to create my own time travelling machine!

Please say I'm not the only one that comes out of films brainwashed to indulge in whatever the subject matter is!

THE SHOPPING!

Yesterday I promised to show you some of my purchases from my shopping trip to London
I can never resist notecards or notebooks so the new Hummingbird Bakery stationary line was perfect for me!

Once again I helped line Cath Kidstons pockets - she knows I can't resist polka dots

And as if I didn't shop enough yesterday I couldn't help a little peek in my favourite charity shop today and was pleased I did when I saw these Enid Blyton books

I hope you've all had a relaxing Sunday and if you pop back tomorrow you may find news of a giveaway ;o)

Vintage Laptop Table

When I had a few days off work some weeks ago I was able to spend some time pottering in my bedroom where I rediscovered this
stuff 145
Isn’t it lovely?
Not one to brag but I actually have 2 of these lovely bed trays but this one unfortunately wouldn’t slot happily back into place when the idea struck me that it would be perfect to sit my laptop on
stuff 147
(sorry for the flash – I spent all day meaning to take photos whilst I had some natural light and of course didn’t actually get round to taking them until dusk!)
Don’t you agree?
Now I can happily sit in bed tapping away quite comfortably
