The Spending Ban

The good news is I have booked a holiday.
The bad news is a spending ban is required.

To be honest a spending ban is well overdue. I started this year with good intentions to impose a sensible spending approach which in short meant it was unnecessary to delve into ones overdraft 3 days before pay day to purchase the latest beauty release and haven’t done too badly considering I’ve also spent a fortune on new bedroom furniture.

That said I still managed to add the cute but completely unnecessary pineapple make up bag to my shopping bag during a trip round Westfield a few weeks ago (prior to booking my holiday FYI). I love pineapples which is what made it impossible to resist and I will use it daily carrying my make up around but still, it was £10, I have numerous make up bags in my collection and it certainly wasn’t a necessary purchase.

And then of course we have the no 1 beauty blogger problem of all, the inability to walk into Boots/Space NK/Mac without adding the newest products to my every growing make up stash. I’m a collector by nature and nothing pleases me more than to have a collection of lipsticks, eye shadows etcetera in every variety available. Then of course there are band wagons I love to jump on, whether the reviews are good or bad I want to try for myself and this gets costly. My flat is currently overflowing with numerous products that I haven’t even taken out of the packaging Nars and Urban Decay Naked 3 palettes examples of.

It’s not just beauty I’m guilty of random spending, there are the takeaways because I’m home late from work and don't want to cook, a magazine because I want something different to read one night than my latest book or another pair of pyjamas from Primark because they’re oh so cheap. Starting now it stops. In just over a month  I’m heading off on the trip of a lifetime with my best friend to San Francisco, Hawaii and LA and I think that’s worth putting down the phone on the Chinese takeaway or adding another blusher to my collection don’t you?

The great news is my overflowing collections should keep me in blog material for weeks (if not months!) to come and my birthday is on the horizon so that should ease the pain of minimal spending and see a few treats come my way.

If you have any spending ban tips or indeed some for my forthcoming holiday do share, I couldn’t be more excited… now where’s Rhianna’s Viva Glam lipstick I brought two weeks ago……

  3. I'm so jealous - your holiday sounds absolutely incredible :)
But the pineapple make up bag is amazing! I read the other day that in the olden days pineapples were such a luxury in the UK that the aristocrats used to rent pineapples to take to parties! I don't know how true that is, but it's a pretty cool fact, right?

    1. I've been lucky enough to visit Santa Monica Beach before and I agree it's lovely. We'll only have a couple of days in LA this time so we may concentrate more central but will see how we get on!

My Thing this year is that If I buy clothese or makeup and after a week it is still in the bag and not worn or used it then I return it...going very slow on that one. I am trying very hard because I want to come to England and I know I want to buy lots of things....lol I know you can do this! lol Grace xoox
