Being ill and snowbound this week saw me declutter my pile of magazines
Which lead me to tackle my box full of magazine clippings
The box was full to the top (and overflowing!) before I really thought about what I wanted to keep ending in this box full of rubbish!
If you’re unlikely to be leaving the house this weekend why not tackle your magazines and clippings and start 2010 afresh
I love magazines too...but need to go through and weed them out...just like recipes. I'm forever saving them and have tons I'll never try.
ReplyDeleteStay cozy and feel better soon....hugs, Linda
snap! Yesterday I went through my stash of Vogue and MS Living mags. I purged the house of all my old copies of Country Living, but I can't get rid of Vogue. I've got every copy for the last 5 years, and I've got it in my head that Humbug is going to work in fashion, so will need all these vintage copies!!!! MS Living is just lovely, so I can't get rid of those. I've got a stash of Mary Engelbreit Home Companion and Victoria mags too, which are too precious to cut up or get rid of. I am a bit of a hoarder when it comes to mags. And shoes. Teacups. Hats. Coat. Ok, quite a lot really!
ReplyDeleteI hope you are feeling better now. Been so bloomin' cold hasn't it? I was up at 1 this morning, watching blizzard like snow swirl around a street lamp. :O) xx
I have piles everywhere (of magazines that is!!!)
ReplyDeleteI am a magazine freak and I just can't get rid of them.
But I do need to de-clutter soon!
At the moment, I try to restrict myself to Country Living, (to which I subscribe) Devon Life (ditto) Homes and Antiques (which my mum passes on to me) and Sew Hip (which I buy now and again).
Hope you are feeling better. Keep warm!! ;-)
I have been doing a similar exercise! trouble is I end up re-reading all the things I thought I deperately needed to keep, only to find that I still definately need to keep! tee hee,
ReplyDeleteFeel better soon,
Sarah x
I did that last night! Went through a massive pile, tearing out the pages for inspiration and reference and boxing them ( have a very big box full of torn papers now!). I love the start of the new year as a clear out time. Get rid of cobwebs from 2009! Have a fab day! xxx
ReplyDeleteOh - I so hope you have kept the heirloom stocking, it looks gorgeous. My bedside pile of magazines is now as high as my bedside table so I definitely need to have a sort out. I just cannot part with my MS Livings or Marie Claire Idees. I seem to be drawn to ideas from overseas.....
ReplyDeleteP.S. Love the blog. I'm new to this world and thinks your blog is just beautiful. x
sorry to hear your not well, lots of love x
ReplyDeleteI have done that before the move so we didn't have to bring the entire pile with us. Now I have started again... but I always try to keep it down anyway.

Great idea, and perfect for decluttering. Hope you're on the mend now.

theres nothing like a good sort out ! hope you feel better soon x
ReplyDeleteHey sweetie, glad you're feeling a little better! Thank you for your e-mail! ..are you taking part to Floss'magazines swap? You would be a perfect swap partner with all those fabby magazines!
ReplyDeleteGood idea! I am always collecting magazines and they can build up into quite a lot of work to sort out! suzie. xxx
ReplyDeleteI have the best excuse for hanging on to all my magazines, lol - I need them to weigh down the coffee table in the family room. If I didn't, it would get turned over by the dogs all the time. Ask me how I know.
ReplyDeleteWhat do you do with the ones you keep????
ReplyDeleteWow Victoria that is a big stash!! I haven't bought a magazine in ages, well only the cheap trashy celeb ones!! Hope your sorting goes well...do you keep things in an inspiration book? I use one and find it helps keep things organised! x
ReplyDeleteGood idea! BTW what does a 'cuppa' mean???
ReplyDeleteSand xox
I love cutting up magazines, I put all the lovely housey pics in a file, the snippets go into a box and the crafty bits go into another file,( all that's left is the adverts and recepies as I don't like cooking!).I saw an article you had that was "heirloom stocking" do you remember which mag that was out of please? it looked like one Kirsty made at Christmas Love Lucey xx
ReplyDeleteNothing beats a bit of a sort out to begin a new year! I'm quite good with magazines now, only keeping those I really need and passing those that I don't to my neighbour or selling them on eBay! Hope you feeling much better now, Rebecca x
ReplyDeleteThat's something else I have to do!! ha ha thanks for adding to my list!!!
ReplyDeleteI did!! I was ill too, so this was one of the things I could handle!
ReplyDeleteVictoria, I hope you feel much better very soon! Enjoy your weekend. We Never get tired of your comments:) Twyla
ReplyDeleteGet well soon - and have a lovely weekend :-)
ReplyDeleteI didn't know you had been unwell, poor you. Hope you're feeling better now the weekend is here :)
ReplyDeleteI'm trying really hard not to buy magazines....so expensive! x
I purged myself of my HUGE pile last weekend. It felt so good!
ReplyDeleteHi Victoria! I hope you feel better and I have been decluttering alot myself. I got my magazines all taken care of and my nightstand too!
ReplyDeleteThat is so WEIRD,Victoria! I just went through a HUGE amount of magazines and books because we're redoing the bedroom and I just had to reduce my clutter by at least half! I am addicted to magazines and craft books so it was NOT an easy thing to do, and my to keep pile is still quite large. Suzie
ReplyDeleteHope you feel better soon! I'm not too bad with magazines, but I do have a bit of a yarn stash. But I bought lots of plastic zip bags and sorted it all out over the holidays so now I am feeling very uplifted!
