On a rare day off work my plans for a lie in were thwarted when I remembered the cleaner was due a visit so I jumped in the car and headed to the local shopping centre to tackle the days to do list. Strolling past a newly opened Frankie & Benny's I noticed they had a £5 breakfast menu and hearing my belly rumbling I decided to treat myself to some bacon and pancakes.
Unfortunately I wished I hadn't - it was not good. I appreciate for £5 what can you expect but... rubbery pancakes which I have no doubt were reheated and under cooked bacon nowhere near the crispiness you need when accompanying pancakes and then the maple syrup. I love maple syrup but this arrived drowning the plate. I actually didn't even eat it all it was that bad and I'm not one to not clear my plate.
All in all a disappointing experience - have you had more success from Frankie & Benny's breakfast menu?
Oh what a shame! There's not much worse than rubbery pancakes :(

Oh dear nothing worse than a bad breakfast to start of your day!

Oh my word! Wowza! :D
ReplyDeleteRubbery pancakes are not what you need at the start of the day!
ReplyDeleteI had the pancakes from there too the other day, massive disappointment all round. I know what you mean about them being rubbery, not fluffy at all x

I had exactly the same and it was so disappointing. The pancakes were hard to even swallow after a while. Should have gone for the eggs instead!

My flatmate raved about their breakfasts so the last day of term we went to our local one and had breakfast! The hot chocolate was nice but I also had the pancakes and wasn't impressed :/ I wouldn't be rushing back, there are much nicer places to eat breakfast :)

I have. Last year we got into the habit of having breakfast there every week after the girl had her swimming lesson.
ReplyDeleteI once had the pancakes and bacon, but no, not for me. Their pancakes aren't good.
I tend to have the eggs benedict, but then I have to give specific details on how I want my eggs - runny in the centre, but whites properly cooked, no 'snot'. And when I order anything with bacon I ask for it to be crisp.
I know this makes me a fussy customer, but why not? It's a treat, and I want what I want. They always do it how I want it, so it's not a problem for them :O)
