Tres Chic!

Last night Kelly & I went to see Coco Before Chanel

It wasn't as good as I'd hoped but I still enjoyed the dip into Coco's world

I also came out with the following thoughts:

I wish I spoke French

I had an overwhelming desire to open my dad's wardrobe, cut up his suits and create Chanel-esq creations

My hunt for a pair of white men's pj's with black trim shall begin imminently

and

I still would love to own one of the trademark Chanel suits (and a matching bag obviously!)

We're off to see The Time Traveller's Wife at the weekend so I'm sure these whims will be replaced by a brain storming session to create my own time travelling machine!

Please say I'm not the only one that comes out of films brainwashed to indulge in whatever the subject matter is!

  1. Oh, you're not the only one! Ben grew his hair once after watching the Last of the Mohicans, so he not actually dreamed it, he did it! Our black and white cat was named Chanel by his original French owners - he is undoubtably the most stylish resident of our house.

  2. I went to see it on Monday too with my friend and really enjoyed it. Audrey Tatou is so beautiful. I hoped I'd understand a bit of the french but it was way to fast for the few phrases I remember from my GCSE days! Agree with you about the clothes, especially the ones in the fashion show at the end. What I hadn't realized before I saw the film was what a sad life she had. There's a group of us going to see the TTW as well next week, although I have heard a couple of reviews saying its not as good as the book :-( (which was fab) but I would still like to see it (it's a girls night out with Ben & Jerry's ice-cream after all!). Have you read the book?

  3. Oooh, those PJs are so sexy. I'm really lookimg forward to seeing this film but as you just said not as good as you thought, i'll probably wait untill it's out on dvd.
You're not the only one , if I watch a film I really enjoy I tend to want to be that person or if it's based on a real person, I want to devour books and learn more about said person.
Can't wait to see your plans for a time machine 'hehe'!
    ((hugs))

  4. I want those PJ's too! Maybe they'll be in the mens department toward Christmas?

If I watch a movie, immediately after, I'm day dreaming! So it's not just you. :)

  5. Coco avant Chanel isn't in our little village cinema yet, but it comes and my friend and I will certainly go then. But you guessed it: I was in the cinema too last night! We saw 'the Reader', I read the book ages ago, so some of the suspension was spoiled but I would recommend it still. Great acting, great scenery!
You could learn to speak French you know? We had a book at school 'La plus belle langue' to learn French, it means the most beautiful language and I think it is. I'm like you; such a film does influence me. I remember so well seeing Jesus Christ Superstar and I definitely wanted to be a modern ballet dancer. But it wasn't the last movie I saw, so plans got changed. Have a nice day!

  8. I'ts been far too long since I went to the cinema. I thnk the last time was to watch Narnia...the lion & the witch one back in 2005 or whenever it was! I was only chatting to my niece today about the time travellers wife, I really fancy seeing that one. x

  9. The sub-titles put me off seeing this a wee bit but I'm desperate to see The Time Traveller's Wife, if not worried I'll be disappointed after reading the book! Our local cinema has 3 screens and neither are showing unfortunately :(

  10. I am looking forward to seeing that but may have to wait until it comes out on DVD.
I have jim jams just like that and they were from good ol' M&S.

It is worth trying to learn French if you fancy it? You're not too far from Harlow college and my Mother teaches the adult classes there every now and again.

  20. Hello Victoria,I don't think the Time travellers wife is coming here. But when it comes out on DVD.I will see it for sure.I hope you find your PJ's.They sound devine. One of the very first perfumes I had as a young teen was Channel#5.I still loved my Ambush and Taboo better. They don't make the original Ambush anymore, just some horrible water melon smelly version.I still wear taboo.I will keep a look out for the PJ's for you.XXOO Marie Antionette
